Dear Ms. Bavoso:

The 2012 hurricane season has produced a relentless march of storms that have pummeled coastal communities in the United States. Tropical Storm Debby in Florida; Hurricane Isaac in the Gulf Coast—both storms flooded neighborhoods, triggered power outages, and displaced people from their homes. As the season headed into its final month, Superstorm Sandy hit the East Coast with high winds and heavy rains, causing immense damage and destruction. Yet throughout this turbulent season, the American Red Cross has been there thanks to the support of donors such as you, offering shelter, food, solace and hope.

Oak Hill Capital Management’s gift on 12/28/2012 to 2012 Hurricanes and Other Related Storms helps people affected by tropical activity. Your support helps the Red Cross prepare for and respond to the storms, and provide services such as food, shelter and emotional support to those impacted. On those rare occasions when donations exceed American Red Cross expenses for a specific disaster, contributions are used to prepare for and serve victims of other disasters.

Across the Eastern Seaboard, the Red Cross mobilized to meet the challenge of Sandy as the threat from the storm grew. Shelters hosted people seeking safety as power failed and communities flooded. Meals gave residents nourishment and comfort, while Red Cross workers alleviated fears. We coordinated with our partners to ensure relief was at hand as Sandy made landfall, and remained on the scene as the storm passed and the extent of the damage was revealed. The task of recovery will be arduous, but residents can look to the Red Cross for help.

We are grateful for your support of the American Red Cross as we navigate the 2012 hurricane season. To learn more about your gift at work, please visit redcross.org
